2019 Blankiet Estate Mythicvs, Paradise Hills Vineyard

Mythicvs

A 100% Cabernet Sauvignon selection from the best lots. The darkest of all our wines. Extraordinarily deep with powerful yet refined tannins. A wine for extended cellaring.

The 2019 ‘Mythicvs’ is an absolute masterpiece in this vintage. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from the best blocks out of the Paradise Hills Vineyard and is amongst the most compelling wines I taste from Napa every year, the 2019 is no exception. As this begins to open in the glass, it releases incredibly perfumed aromatics of ripe dark currants, blueberries, and black cherries, that are laced together with graphite pencil shavings, exotic spices, charcoal, fresh dark florals, herbs, tobacco, and crushed gravel nuances that all come together beautifully. On the palate, this is full- bodied and graceful, yet impeccably structured, with well-defined, polished tannins. This continues to impress with its wonderful overall concentration, precision, and beautiful pure ripe dark fruits that cascade through the long finish. This is a drop-dead gorgeous wine from Blankiet that is certainly impressive now but is destined for a brilliant future ahead.

Pure gold. The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Mythicvs checks in as pure Cabernet Sauvignon coming from three separate vineyards. It has that incredible profile of power without weight that’s so hard to find, and again, it has a Lafite-like elegance and class in its aromatics as well as on the palate. Blackcurrants, smoked tobacco, loamy earth, freshly sharpened pencils, and graphite all define the bouquet, and it’s full-bodied, with incredible tannins and a broad yet seamless, pure, and precise mouthfeel. It hits 14.5% natural alcohol, the pH is 3.85, and it spent 18 months in new T5 barrels from Taransaud. This wine absolutely stopped me in my tracks. There are just 175 cases produced, but it’s a legendary Yountville Cabernet Sauvignon that I suspect will have 30+ years of prime drinking.
